Abstract:

The development of DC microgrid is an important direction for the development of power systems in the future, but there are still some problems that limit the development of DC microgrid, such as prone to short-circuit faults and short-circuit fault currents. A bidirectional DC circuit breaker (BSSCB) based on Z source topology is introduced in order to solve these problems. BSSCB is a versatile device that includes power flow control, circuit interrupts, fault current limiting and interrupts in DC systems. The working principle of the BSSCB under different working modes is analyzed in detail with the simulation waveform. The design process and component selection criteria for the bidirectional circuit breaker are given later. Finally, the feasibility of the bidirectional DC circuit breaker is verified by experiments.
