Research on High Voltage Long Line Fault Location Method Based on Fault Component Calculation

Abstract:

Fault location is a technology that automatically determines the location of line fault points, which can effectively improve the efficiency of line inspection and ensure the rapid restoration of power supply. Accuracy is the most important requirement for fault ranging devices. Inaccurate ranging information will increase the difficulty of power transmission line inspection. A high voltage long line fault location method based on fault component calculation is proposed to solve the problem that the transition resistance and line parameters can easily cause large deviations in ranging results. Fault location method for long-distance high voltage calculated based on fault component method. Based on the centralized parameter model of high-voltage long lines, the function application of fault location method on the line protection device is realized, with a simple ranging equation is derived by using the fault component method and the expression of the fault distance ratio is obtained. The test results show that the method has good ranging accuracy, the maximum deviation is 150 m, the method is not easily affected by the transition resistance and parameter changes, and can be applied to various short-circuit faults.
