Abstract:

Aim ing at the problems of high starting temperature, large acoustic power dissipation and huge volume of the thermoacoustic engine, a control method based on starting/generating bidirectional operation is proposed. Based on the understanding of the basic knowledge of thermoacoustic electric generation system(TAEGS) and the analysis of the thermoacoustic engine's starting mechanism, a mathematical model of thermoacoustic power generation system is established, and different control strategies for starting control and power generation control are studied. The simulation results in Matlab/Simulink environment show that the thermoacoustic power generation system based on start/generate bidirectional control has shorter starting time and higher thermal-acoustic-electricity (T-A-E) conversion efficiency, which provides a feasible guarantee for the thermoacoustic technology to be put into production practice in using low quality heat source.

Key words: Thermoacoustic electric generation system, tubular linear motor, thermal-acoustic-electricity (T-A-E) conversion efficiency
