Abstract:

When the three-phase pulse width modulation current source rectifier operate under unbalanced grid voltage conditions, the traditional direct power control will cause power pulsation, low frequency output fluctuations on the DC side, and serious grid side current distortion, which will affect the performance of the rectifier. An improved power feedback control strategy that doesn’t need to collect grid side current is proposed, so that the rectifier can achieve good performance in both ideal and unbalanced grids. A mathematical model of the current source rectifier is firstly established when the grid voltage is unbalanced, and the expression of the relationship between the DC side output current and the grid side current is derived. Then feedback control is added in the active control loop to directly suppress low frequency pulsation, and at the same time a notch filter is introduced in the modulation link to reduce grid side current harmonics. Through Matlab/Simulink simulation and experimental prototype testing and comparing the two power control schemes, the correctness and superiority of the proposed method are verified.
