Abstract:

Three-phase unbalance of distribution network will affect power quality and cause unstable operation of power system. At present, three-phase four-wire system is commonly used in power system. The traditional compensator for three-phase three-wire system can only suppress negative sequence current, but cannot eliminate zero sequence current. To solve this problem, a method that use active power filter for load compensation is proposed. Firstly, the mathematical model of active power filter is established, then the monitoring method of compensation current is analyzed, and the compensation characteristics of active power filter are deduced. A three-phase four-wire compensation model is built in Matlab/Simulink. The normal and fault-type unbalances are simulated. The experimental results verify the proposed model. The scheme can effectively reduce the unbalance of three-phase load.
