Energy Management Strategy of Hybrid Energy Storage System Considering the State of Charge of the Supercapacitor

Abstract:

DC microgrid is taken as the research object, and an energy management strategy of hybrid energy storage system is introduced. In order to reduce power fluctuations caused by load variation and optimize the operation of hybrid energy storage system, an energy management strategy for the state of charge of supercapacitor is proposed. According to the measured state of charge of supercapacitor, the low-pass filtering algorithm with time constant varying with the state of charge is used to distribute the fluctuating power between the two energy storing dielectrics. The low frequency part of the fluctuating power is undertaken by the battery, while the high frequency part is undertaken by the supercapacitor. The simulation model is built in Matlab/Simulink, and the proposed energy management strategy is verified by simulation. The results show that the method can effectively solve the problem that the system cannot operate normally and stably due to the excessive charge/discharge of energy storage equipment.
