Abstract:

The scaling of the platinum grading electrode and the corrosion of the aluminum heat sinks in high voltage direct current (HVDC) seriously affect the normal operation. In order to solve these problems, a partial capacitance model is firstly built based on the relative position of the grading electrodes and the heat sinks in a valve section, and the primary cause for the scaling of the grading electrodes and the corrosion of the heat sinks under different operating conditions are clarified. The influence mechanism of the behavioral characteristics of processes are explained. On this basis, some improved technologies to reduce the scaling and the corrosion are given, and the purpose of improving the operational reliability of the valve cooling system in HVDC is achieved.
