Abstract:

Arc appears during the breaking process in the circuit breaker, if the arc reignited can lead to the breaking failure, so characteristics of arc itself is important for the performance of the circuit breaker. Because of the interaction between the arc and gas flow, and also both the arc and gas flow dynamically changed in a short time, is a complex solving because of the unsteady, sticky characteristic with the source and variable boundary. In this paper, the 550kV single break high voltage SF6 circuit breaker is analyzed under small capacitive current and short-circuit fault conditions, based on the finite volume method to numerically simulate the gas flow field under different breaking conditions, the introduction of an equivalent unit dynamic arc model, and furthermore the gas flow parameters time series of different sampling points are obtained, also the chaos theory is used to analyze the chaotic characteristics quantity under different breaking conditions, the chaos can be effectively used to enhance the arc energy dissipation effect, which helpful for the arc extinguishing, in order to improve the breaking performance.
