Comparative Analysis of Corona Onset Voltage Between T-Type and Ordinary Conductor After Energized Glaze Icing

Abstract:

In the paper, the multifunction artificial climate chamber in different condition is used to make glaze icing for four conductors—JNRLH60X/LBIA-185/30, Drake 1020, LGJ-185/10, LGJ-400/65. The UV imaging technology and I-U curve fitting measurement is used to analyze corona inception voltage, and combined with the glaze icing morphology to establish icing branches’electrical field model to research the corona characteristics of the conductor. The results show that energized glaze icing can cut down the inception voltage value of T-type wire about 63%, corona onset voltage will decrease continually with the icing time increasing, but it will gradually become saturated. Glaze icing morphology dose not vary with the difference of the freezing-water conductivity, but with the increase of the salt concentration, the conductor corona starting voltage will decrease gradually. Under the same icing conditions, the ordinary conductor’s corona inception voltage is lower than T-type conductor.
