Abstract:

In order to provide design basis of the excitation synchronous motor, a new method based on finite element method (FEM) is proposed to analyze its electrical properties in this paper. First step is to select the representative excitation synchronous motor as studied object, to build a convex three- phase-four-polar 3D model, to set the material properties, to generate the corresponding coils and to set the initial position of the motor. Second step is to solve by the adaptive grid subdivision and 2D transient solver. Last step is to post-process data by Matlab to analyze the relationship between power frequency and motor speed, copper loss, iron loss, eddy current loss and magnetic field distribution, which provides the theoretic basic for motor designers.
